If the GP has requested a blood test, you may book an appointment at Reception with one of our Nurses. If, however, the appointments offered by us are unsuitable for you, you can attend an alternative clinic.
A walk-in blood clinic is available at Barbara Castle Way Health Centre and Darwen Health Centre. No appointment is necessary for this, but waiting may be unavoidable during busy periods.
The clinic times are as follows:
Monday to Friday – 8:40am till 11:30am
Monday – 3:00pm till 5:00pm Barbara Castle Way ONLY
Friday – 3:00pm till 5:00pm Darwen Health Centre ONLY
These clinics will only see 60 patients in the morning sessions and 40 patients in the afternoon sessions – after this, the clinic will close and they will see no more patients. This service is open to all patients registered with a Blackburn with Darwen GP, so it is advisable to get there as soon as you can.
Please note: appointments will still need to be made for children’s bloods between the ages of 5 and 14 years. Prior to attending their appointment they may still need to apply Emla Cream to both arms (inner elbow), one hour before the blood test. A prescription for this cream and dressing can be obtained from their GP.
N.B Clinics are closed on Bank Holidays
